Serving the community

By Anita Stienstra

For the 27th year, Central Baptist Church will serve free Thanksgiving meals to the public on Thanksgiving Day. On the menu is all the tasty classic fare: roasted turkey breast, homemade dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, bread and dessert. Piano music completes the soothing yet festive environment. Free winter gloves, socks and hats are also provided to those in need. Phone the church to make a reservation as early as possible, the day before Thanksgiving if possible. Carryout and delivery is available, with transportation provided to the church if needed. Last year, Central served more than 1,750 meals. The church is located across the street from the Executive Mansion.
