Fab flicks

By Anita Stienstra

Watch 62 of the best independent films from 11 countries and 16 states, as well as Illinois, during this three-day film festival held at the Hoogland Center for the Arts. About 30 filmmakers, along with some of their cast and crew, are expected to attend including some from Hollywood: writer/director/actor Michael Worth and Springfield native actress Stephanie Fischer Casaubon. Pictured above is a still from Best of Fest winner, “The Italian Key” written and directed by Rosa Karo. Friday night is the opening night gala that includes four films followed by a filmmaker reception. There are several options for attendance, including a day pass (five sessions) for $30, a single session for $10, or $65 for all films and admission to the opening party. Complete details can be found at www.route66filmfestival.net or the festival’s Facebook page.
