APL Pet Adoptions

The Animal Protective League (APL) will hold several pet adoptions during April with cats and dogs available at various locations.  All animals presented by APL for adoption have been spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and have received all vaccinations. 

Adoptions will be held:

  • Wednesday, April 3 – dogs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UIS Wellness Clinic, Recreation and Athletic Center on the University of Illinois Springfield campus.
  • Saturday, April 6 – dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PetSmart, 3183 South Veterans Parkway, Springfield
  • Sunday, April 7 – cats at 11 a.m. and dogs from noon to 3 p.m. at PetSmart
  • Saturday, April 13 – dogs from 11 to 2 p.m. and cats until 3 p.m. at Ace Hardware, 1600 West Wabash, Springfield
  • Sunday, April 14 –cats from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PetSmart
  • Saturday, April 20 – dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Green Hyundai, 1200 South Dirksen Parkway, Springfield; dogs only from 10 a.m. to noon at the Central Illinois Community Blood Center, 1134 South 7th Street, Springfield
  • Sunday, April 21 –cats from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PetSmart
  • Saturday, April 27 - dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PetSmart; dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cats until 3 p.m. at Ace Hardware
  • Sunday, April 28 – cats from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dogs from noon to 3 p.m. at PetSmart.

Additionally kittens are available every day during regular business hours at Gizzy Lu.

APL, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting ill, injured and abandoned homeless animals, runs an animal shelter which is open every day from noon to 5 p.m. for adoptions.  APL also coordinates cruelty investigations and humane education programs.  APL also operates a low cost spay/neuter clinic adjacent to its Springfield shelter.
