Herald & Review Parenting Columnist, Claudia Quigg, and Millikin University’s Bronze Man Books announce the release of their new book: Let’s Talk Kids: Becoming A Family.
The book is based on a collection of Quigg’s parenting columns currently being featured in multiple newspapers and radio segments. Topics range from pregnancy to the joys and challenges of life with a newborn.
“While my columns often address life with older children and adolescents, I have a deep interest in the early years and months in the life of a family” says Quigg. “The work of pregnancy, the marvel of a newborn, and the emerging personhood of the toddler fascinate me. Families set patterns for how they will be together during these early years, and I hope this book will support parents in this process.”
A collaboration with Millikin University’s Bronze Man Books, this student-run project provided an opportunity for students to experience the process involved in writing, designing, producing and marketing a book.
Student editors, Kendall Robinson and Taylor Chaney, enjoyed working with Quigg to develop an engaging book for new parents. Says Robinson “It has been a great learning experience for us to edit the newspaper columns into a book that will address readers for years to come.” Another Millikin student, Toni Graves, was the photographer for the book.
A Book Release Party has been scheduled for Thursday, March 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the Millikin Alumni Building. Quigg will be signing books and will perform a brief reading. Students involved in the project will also make a short presentation. This event is open to the public.
Books may be purchased either at Baby TALK or Millikin University’s Bronze Man Books for $17.44 including tax.
