The International Carillon Festival rings out June 3-5 and 7-9 at the prestigious Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon. The fifth largest carillon in the world at 132 feet with 67 bronze-cast bells, Rees will host free concerts by carillonneurs from around the world. Playing are: Carlo van Ulft, from Centralia; Dick van Dijk, from the Netherlands; Doug Gefvert, from Valley Forge, Pa.; Steven J. Ball, from Ann Arbor, Mich.; Trevor Workman, from the United Kingdom; Wylie Crawford, from Chicago. Fireworks top the evening on Friday, June 8. Remember to bring your lawn chair or blanket and some pocket change for food, drink and memorabilia. The gala was organized by Springfield Park District, Rees Carillon Society and the Carillon Belles. More information can be found at www.carillon-rees.org or at www.springfieldparks.org.
