springfield bad-decision poem # 4

O sing our dolorous lamentation
O hear ye gods of all creation
a city spot, a corner green
is soon no longer to be seen
chain saws will rent the dawning calm
the toads and rabbits will be gone
the frisky squirrel the scaly snake
all disappeared and just to make
a giant store that we don’t need
for this a thousand trees will bleed
a store with food not fit to eat
high fructose sugar hormone meat
more asphalt will pour o’er the ground
more cars will belch exhaust around
O tell what politics are near
that we’re not privileged to hear
what corporation gave a holler
who knelt to the almighty dollar
at least two aldermen were firm
O muse pray make the others squirm
our enos park, sam, knows you stood
and cast your vote for griffin wood
