Amy Benton

Amy Benton

Blessed with a lovely voice, a sweet smile, a creative streak and enough gumption to take on the music business world, Taylorville native Amy Benton lives her dream. Between consistent shows in central Illinois (she’s booked next weekend at the Office and Boondocks), our enterprising singer-songwriter makes steady trips to Nashville, Tenn., pitching songs to the folks that make country music happen. If you’re down that way catch her at the famed Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant in Franklin, just south of Nashville on April 17. She’s made many inroads since opening for Aaron Tippin at Nashville North in Taylorville several years ago, from telling a joke to venerable Grand Ole Opry star Little Jimmy Dickens to winning the Christian County Fair talent show, among other notable accomplishments. At the upcoming shows expect some new original songs along with classic country tunes from heroes like Merle Haggard and June Carter Cash. She describes herself best by saying, “I loooove singing, playing and writing!” and all that love shines through in her music and motives.
