Must-see screening

art11303

Touted as a “must-see, jaw-dropping” film, the documentary Burn will be screened at The Legacy Theatre on Wednesday evening, May 8. Burn tells the story of Detroit firefighters. But this first responder story is unique. Detroit is a city with more abandoned buildings and arson fires each day than cities twice its size. Los Angeles, with 4 million people, has 11 structure fires a day; Detroit at 713,000 residents has 30. Produced and directed by Tom Putnam and Brenna Sanchez, film crew embedded with Engine Company 50 for over a year. They captured the complexities of the firefighters’ lives in connection with their service to the crumbling city of Detroit. The film contains adult language, themes and brief nudity and is not recommended for children under 13. More info is at detroitfirefilm.org. The screening is supported by The Associated Firefighters of Illinois and Springfield Firefighters Local 37.
