Let's go to the dogs...and cats
I must get about 4 emails a week from Carol Rodgers - a dedicated volunteer with the local Animal Protective League. I don't know about you, but I have a very soft spot for pets of all kinds; I believe that there is special place in heaven for people who take care of these creatures who can't take care of themselves. Carol, you go girl! This would be a great weekend to find a new furry friend.
This just in from Carol: All animal welfare groups have been hurt by the economy and forced to cut back their budgets, thus making it more difficult to find loving families for homeless pets. Sangamon County Animal Control is no exception, and the Animal Protective League is committed to helping them. Although SCAC has special pricing for older animals and long-time residents, they are unable to purchase advertising to promote this. APL's mission is "dedicated to caring for sick and stray animals and coordinating adoption of homeless animals by responsible pet owners," regardless of where these animals are housed. Well hell, they don't need to purchase advertising. They just need us to spread the word.
We have added a page on the APL website to feature pets of the week for SCAC, and you can access it by clicking on this link: http://www.apl-shelter.org/dotnetnuke/PetsAvailableforAdoption/PetsatSangamonCountyAnimalControl/tabid/144/Default.aspx
