Vote for the BESTS OF SPRINGFIELD
Thanks to the 1700 who’ve already voted in the BEST OF SPRINGFIELD 2009 poll. The online voting remains open until midnight, Wednesday September 30 … but there’s no time like the present to let your voice be heard. (The paper ballot in the paper must be received in our office by close of business on Wednesday the 30th … so if you’re determined to vote the old fashioned way hurry it up.)
This year’s online survey is a bit different than those in the past – voters can choose someone already nominated OR add their own new nominee. Each section of the survey (there are 8) also provides a way to add comments about anyone or anything voted for on that page. (In other words we are eager to hear why this nominee deserves to be recognized.)
And since we can never please some of the people any of the time with the year’s ballot options there is a ‘wild card’ category toward the end of the ballot – where anyone can designate both a category we missed and the nominee who should be recognized in it!
The online ballot is easily accessible at the IT website – www.illinoistimes.com. Just click on the box that says ‘vote here’ and you’ll be whisked away to the ballot.
In order to prevent anyone from stuffing the ballot box (I know it is hard to believe that such a thing could happen but …) after you’ve made your final selections and voted an email will be sent to your address … once you reply to that email your votes will be counted.
We plan to notify the top 3 finalists in most categories early next week .. but the winners names will be top secret until we publish the BEST OF SPRINGFIELD 2009 edition on Thursday, October 29th.
