Springfield Jaycees have planned another Fourth of July party, Capital City Celebration, for Springfield to celebrate the birth of our nation. Wednesday’s free party features the band Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters at 8 p.m. Food, beer and drinks will be available for purchase starting at 7 p.m. Beginning Thursday at 4 p.m. there will be food, drinks, craft vendors, giant inflatables with free admittance, face painting, children’s (0-10 years) pageant for most photogenic, pretty eyes, pretty face and pretty hair, Mrs. Illinois International Season Winesberg will be in attendance, and free ice cream courtesy of MJ Kellner will be served at 5 p.m. until gone. Don’t miss Springfield Municipal Band at 6 p.m., local band Ultraviolet from 5-7 p.m. and The Remedy starting at 7:30 p.m. until the fireworks begin. Fireworks will light the night sky at 9:30.
