What’s an Epsom? Dare we ask this Springfield-based experimental and adventurous trio consisting of Scott Faingold (vocalizations, lyrics), Steven Sgro (noises, guitars) and Tim Harte (drums, drums, drums)? The band began in May of 2012 when the former drummer of NIL8 and local roustabout, Gary “Walnuts” Swaggerty communicated to Faingold these fateful words: “We need to get something going and show these punks in this town what rock ’n’ roll is all about.” Swaggerty played one rehearsal and moved on. After Harte joined, the winsome, threesome has since jammed out at Bar None, Tin Can Pub and The Pharmacy, plus played a few dates in Chicago and recently added the multi-talented Kristopher Zander as a second guitarist. As the songs pile up, the first recording is complete with a 45 vinyl record featuring the hits Alone and I Blame Society now in test pressing mode and a September release date on the books. On Friday, Epsom plays between Owen and Dooley Present and NIL8 making for a tasty, rock-out sandwich.
