Springfield Park District has an array of lessons and activities for the entire family this winter at different parks and facilities in Springfield. At Nelson Center in Lincoln Park, figure skaters can take private 45-minute lessons. Kids 3-12 can learn to play ice hockey in a beginner program for both boys and girls at the indoor rink. There are also lessons for adults and drop in games for teens, (217-753-2800). At Washington Park, if you are age 12 or older and have piano experience and read treble and bass clefs, you can learn to play the carillon from new park district carillonneur Robin Austin, (217-546-3853). There are other classes in cooking and science, (217-546-3970). Erin’s Pavilion at Southwind Park now offers free game night on Wednesdays nights. You must register one week in advance, (217-585-2941). For the entire list of events and more info, visit springfieldparks.org.
