Tonight: Joss Whedon gets Shakespearean

Amy Acker's Beatrice is hearing something she probably oughtn't in Much Ado About Nothing

Joss Whedon is a geeky pop culture megaforce, with credits ranging from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Marvel's The Avengers. The last thing you might expect from him would be a sleek, black and white Shakespeare adaptation.

Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, tonight's selection in the Springfield Art Association's 2014 film series, features many actors familiar from his oeuvre including Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) as Leonato and Angel's Amy Acker as Beatrice. The combination of the appealing cast in modern dress added to Whedon's trademark light touch go a long way toward making Shakespeare's Elizabethan comedy of manners into a delectable treat for millennial audience. Much Ado About Nothing will screen tonight at AMC Parkway 8, 3025 Lindbergh Blvd. Showtime is 7 PM, tickets for adults are $8, tickets for students with ID are $4.
