Billy Don Burns

Every review about the music of Billy Don Burns compares him with the greats of country music such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. Indeed, Burns has rubbed shoulders with them all, producing records for Haggard, getting songs cut by Nelson, keeping good company with Jennings and bumping Cash out of a number one spot on the Americana charts some years ago. Even Billy Joe Shaver, composer of Waylon’s most enduring cuts and a renowned songwriter himself, gives Burns a glowing endorsement as “a great writer, a great man and a leader in all walks of life.” Then how come you’ve never heard of him? Who cares, because here’s your chance to see the man, the legend, up close and personal, singing his songs with a degree of intensity few can do. He tells stories of his time with the outlaws of 70s country music and sings the songs relative to the loving and the living that defines the lifestyle they represented and he lived.
