COMCAST CARES DAY

Comcast Cares Day, described as one of the “largest corporate volunteer initiatives in the nation,” will be renovating Springfield’s Boys and Girls Club, 300 South 15th Street, on Saturday, April 26, one of more than 80 similar projects happening that day across Comcast’s service region, which ranges from Quincy to South Bend, Ind., from Decatur to Rockford and throughout the Chicago area.

Planned renovations to the Boys and Girls Club include installing pea gravel in the playground area, painting backboards, rims and posts in the basketball court along with installing new nets, painting the garage, installing sheeting and mulch and planting flowers in front of the building, and spackling holes and painting the walls and floors in the art room. All supplies for the project will be provided by Comcast.

Work begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday and continues until 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided and each volunteer will receive a Comcast Cares Day t-shirt. More volunteers are needed. Sign up at  www.comcastinthecommunity.com.
