Latin-themed look-see

We’re excited about these new Friday night shindigs at the Illinois State Museum. This Friday, May 2, is another good time to explore the museum when they present a Latin-themed evening called First Friday Fiesta. Learn the salsa (5:30-6:30) from Apollo Shaw (pictured left with dancer), dance instructor and choreographer with The Shaw Dance Company and the Peoria Ballet Academy; listen to the Afro-Cuban-inspired sounds of the Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project, pictured right, (6:30-8:30); check out featured artisan Karen Fiorino of Clay Lick Creek Pottery; and grab a taco from Chadito’s Food Truck or a strawberry-basil, cucumber or cantaloupe margarita from POUR Bar, a full-service cash bar. While getting your Latin on, don’t forget to mosey around all the great exhibits.
