Assumption Fest opens Thursday, June 26, in the small town of Assumption but the lineup is anything but small. Recently added to the parade on Saturday, June 28, is the vehicle and color guard, courtesy of the Illinois Army National Guard’s Company A and Company D, 1st Battalion, 106th Aviation Regiment in Decatur. Other fest highlights beyond the carnival and queen pageants are chainsaw wood carvings with an auction 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Ronald McDonald magic show Friday at 7:30, flea market, Kevin Corley and Carol Alexander book signings, pet contest, Cook and Belle concert, Feuding Hillbillys concert, Macon Speedway pace car, Solution Action Sports BMX Professional Athletes sport show and much more. A schedule of events can be found on Facebook or at illinoistimes.com/events.
