HELP WANTED

Looking for work? There are apparently more than 800 jobs available in Springfield, if you have the right qualifications. The Illinois Department of Employment Security operates a job search website called Illinois Joblink, containing thousands of available jobs around the state. For the five-mile radius around Springfield, the Joblink website shows 843 spots at companies ranging from a collections agency to the Central Illinois Bloodbank. There are jobs for just about every skill level, from entry-level sandwich maker to cardiologist. Although the site requires users to register, it allows advanced searches by location, field and even minimum salary. Ironically, a couple of local job staffing agencies also have internal jobs listed on the site. It’s interesting to note that even in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were expected to work, which suggests that maybe being unemployed isn’t paradise after all. Check out the jobs database at www.illinoisjoblink.com.
