From Russia with love comes the irrepressible Marina V (short for Verenikina) dashing across the U.S. with her “C Minor to Shining Sea” summer tour in full swing. Some years ago, the Russian-born singer-songwriter landed in Springfield, then graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville, before taking off for Los Angeles and the life of a performing and recording artist. Accompanied by Nick Baker, she makes music with heart and soul that warms and beckons, taunts and tells, taking us to wonderful levels of goodness in her live shows and numerous recordings. During this tour they’ve crossed the continent, recently completing shows in Washington D.C., Baltimore, New York City and Boston before heading to Springfield. Then with a few more stops, they reach LA for a wrap party at home on Aug. 2. Marina keeps up with the Internet very well, so visit her website and Facebook page for plenty of extra information and special promotions, from tour T-shirts to acoustic versions of Scorpion songs, plus accounts of her extraordinary adventures in the music business.
