EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE DRUGS

The contents of the landmark Bachmann-Keefner Drug Store, which closed in mid-August, will be auctioned off at noon Sunday, Oct. 3.

Items for sale include the store's vintage wall cabinets, phone booth, and soda fountain. Doors open at 530 E. Capitol Ave. at 10 a.m.

IF THE 'SHOE FITS . . .

The capital city's famed artery-clogging concoction, the horseshoe sandwich, will be featured in an upcoming segment of Roker on the Road, a Food Network program starring NBC weatherman Al Roker.

Producers for the show were in Springfield last Friday, taping the variations of the cheese-slathered sandwich being made and served at D'Arcy's Pint, 2413 S. MacArthur Blvd.

Again this year, readers of Illinois Times picked D'Arcy's as the best place in Springfield for horseshoes.
