Arlin Peebles has composed songs and played in bands (Cleanray, Young Loves) for nearly two decades and spent the last eight or so years working on songs that made it onto his first solo release, Some Big Mystery. Recorded “in rental homes, bedrooms and basements using everything from cassettes to computers,” while moving around the state from Carbondale to Chicago before landing in Springfield, Arlin picked the best of those, added some others and came up with a record. He’s been inspired and busy lately, already recording a 6-song EP of new material this spring. Last year he used Indiegogo, a fan-funding website, to raise cash to press Some Big Mystery on CD and vinyl for those lucky participants in the project. At the Norb’s show, he’ll have product for those in need (a special release party deal of $10 for CD and $15 for vinyl) and he’s also enlisted the help of two top local songwriters, Dave Littrell and Micah Walk, to open the evening of celebrating songwriting with songwriters playing songs.
