Sarah Shook & the Disarmers

Hell-bent on being about as rough and tumble as a gal can be, while simultaneously coming across as a contemporary country cat out to even the score with every lowdown dog around, Sarah Shook seems heaven-sent in this day of pre-programmed computer music. Along with her longtime cohort Eric Peterson (electric guitar) and bandmates John Howie Jr. (drums), Aaron Oliva (upright bass) and Phil Sullivan (pedal steel), the Chapel Hill, North Carolina, native tears up the stage to back up her undeniably excellent press coverage. Critics and reviewers from Rolling Stone Country, No Depression plus a score of others are falling all over themselves to flatter and praise the songwriting, the sound and the Sarah Shook sensation. Recently signed to Chicago’s roots-rock record label Bloodshot Records, Shook is at home in a place that appreciates her style of unabashed rowdiness, reveling in the glories of excess drinking, cussing up a storm and the excitement of misery that leads to enlightenment until morning -- or whenever the next day begins. Woo-hoo!
