A captivating concert

On Thursday, July 13, enjoy the award-winning sounds of Celtic-Americana duo Switchback during July’s “Music at the Museum” concert, a monthly concert series that showcases all styles of music. The concerts are produced by Chris Vallillo and held the second Thursday of each month. Switchback, which features Chicago and Lansing, Iowa-based musicians Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack, performs music that blends traditional Celtic music and original Americana sounds, perfectly marrying the duo’s Irish heritage and Midwestern roots. Switchback’s powerful vocal harmonies have led critics to comparisons to groups such as the Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel, and have resulted in praise from traditional Irish musicians such as Matt Molloy of the Chieftains. Concert tickets will be available at the door, and admission costs $10 for adults and $8 for museum members and children under age 12. Upcoming “Music at the Museum” concerts will feature Felisko and Noden on Aug. 10, Patchouli on Sept. 14 and Katie Dahl on Nov. 9. More concerts will be announced as information becomes available online at http://ginridge.com/extras/music-at-the-museum.
