Although The Brotherhood originally started out as the same blues band under various names, members eventually evolved into their current group, playing music that covers many genres, all reflecting the varied tastes and influences of its members. When Jason McKenzie (vocals, guitar), Jake Baxter (lead guitar, vocals), Kyle Busby (harmonica), John Huemann (bass), Chuck Davidson (drums, percussion) and Craig Smith (drums, percussion) come out to play, you’ll hear some Hank (Sr. and Jr.), Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard right alongside Pearl Jam, Prince, Talking Heads and The Black Keys. Or maybe a set will include Bob Seger, Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Grateful Dead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers with some Beatles, Coldplay, Allman Brothers and Rolling Stones tossed in for good measure. That list is a small sampling of what’s to come in a night of music from The Brotherhood. One of the few (maybe only?) local bands sporting dual drummers, these guys say they “play hard with soul and energy,” and we say they do, too.
