Summer’s sweetest festival

Chatham Jaycees Sweet Corn Festival

Sink your teeth into a delicious cob of sweet corn this weekend at the 44th annual Chatham Jaycees Sweet Corn Festival, a two-day celebration of food, family fun, athletic tournaments and live music. The festivities officially begin Friday at 5 p.m. with a Miss Sweet Corn pageant and soccer tournament, and continue through midnight with live music by After Sunset and X-Krush. Saturday’s fun begins bright and early, with all day soccer at 9 a.m., plus fitness demo and presentations throughout the day such as Zumba, dance, taekwondo, a volleyball tournament, bags tournament and more. Other Saturday highlights include a dunk tank, the Illinois Championship Cow Chip Throw, a whiskey tasting and live music from Take 10 and Broseph E. Lee.
