Corey Dennison Band

Chattanooga-born, Chicago-based and award-winning blues guitarist Corey Dennison is on a roll in the big-time blues world. After a decade-long run with Carl Weathersby, Dennison created a “dynamic new Chicago sound,” anchored by bandmates Gerry Hundt, Nik Skilnik and Joel Baer, and played hard, including steady gigs at famed Windy City club Kingston Mines. Both fans and critics rave about the interesting blend of soul sounds, funky grooves and firebrand blues brought about by the Tennessee-twang vocals and Chicago-style guitar slinging of Corey, ably backed by this crack band of blues guys. The quartet released a debut recording on Delmark Records in 2016, which received an excellent reception on the blues charts, magazines and award programs. Opening this 32nd birthday party for the Illinois Central Blues Club is Robert “Lefty Preacher” Sampson. The Jacksonville blues man has represented the ICBC several times in the solo/duo category at the International Blues Challenge, but this night Robert hits the stage with his band.
