Children in concert

 

On Saturday, May 12, experience a magnificent concert that will close out the 2017-2018 season for the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony and Sangamon Civic Orchestra. The concert, under the direction of Matthew Sheppard, features Sir William Walton’s “Crown Imperial.” The concert will also include a Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony performance of Franz Schubert’s “Symphony No. 8,” commonly known as the “Unfinished Symphony,” as well as a rendition of Telemann’s “Viola Concert,” the first known concerto written for violin, performed by Naomi Bandy, the winner of Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony’s Concerto Competition. Tickets for the May Showcase cost $10 for adults, $5 for students, and are free to ages 12 and under.
