archival poem #9

archival poem #9

annette who is helping me
archive (for the university
of wisconsin due this very
day to arrive with a truck
to collect 52 boxes of primary
material from my farm saga
plus a 60 lb cow-drinking-cup
a stanchion & ceramic salt dish)
said last week: “I wish we’d get
into something more boring.”
she was serious, meaning we
could then sort faster, but I
suspect I’ve made a convert –
I was reading to her a weed
yellow dock has a wavy edge
but shouldn’t affect alfalfa
