people's poetry

To Dance

We have not danced
  and may never
    though I can imagine it

Standing at first     just holding
for a time that would be enough

Till music and mood
  finds your other self
    intensity goes out of you
      I know by your softness

A sweet essence surround us
you are as air within my arms

I feel the warm breath
of a sigh     we are that close

We move
  the earth moves
    and we dance

— Roy L. French
