Jacqueline Jackson presents

glutseason poem #1

my oldest sister phoned
today used
the o word on me you are
obese she said
obese and to prove it reeled
off some
formula with height weight
letters maybe
BMW? BBW? those can’t be
right but
she’s sending me a diet book
me I said
me the o word for me is the
long one
overweight and then only a
little bit
obese she insisted and my
sweetly chubby
primary care doctor slash friend
confirmed it
pointing out intimate parts of
my anatomy
and the proportions they should
be when
all fitted together sheesh I am
only slightly
comforted by my doctor’s cheerful
statement that she has just
moved from
the m o category into the o the
m o being
I can hardly say it morbidly obese
guess I
better go see supersize me missed it
earlier but there must be a DVD
do you know that even salt has
sugar in it
