FUTURISTIC FASHIONISTA

You can do the darnedest things with technology — meet your future husband after a few late-night chats and photo exchanges, consult a doctor who’s five counties away about a developing skin irritation and announce every minute of your day to family and friends (“Cap city just ate a chili-cheese horseshoe. It was sooo good”).

It gets even better for Wendy Butler, a Springfield resident who recently won a “front-row seat” to Norma Kamali’s show at New York Fashion Week. Using Skype video calling, Butler will watch Kamali’s Spring 2010 line strut up and down the catwalk and talk with the designer herself immediately after the show.

According to Meghan Cross, an account executive with Kaplow, a public relations agency in New York, Kamali wants to “experiment with technology in order to break the various barriers between couture and consumer.”
