Springfield’s public access TV channel has had a rough go of it the past few months. After Comcast in December decided to stop providing a studio for producers to create shows and an access point to get them on air, the city of Springfield stepped up as an access point – but the producers still lack a studio. Now, more than four months later, the channel has only a fraction of the more than 70 programs it once featured.

To remedy that situation, the Access 4 Producers Group is planning a fundraiser featuring hor d’oeuvres and live music like Springfield bands Hot Bag O’ Donuts and the Frank Trompeter Quartet, as well as entertainment in the form of the Springfield-based Troupe Zahava belly dancers. The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., May 17 at

Caitie Girl’s Restaurant, 400 E. Jefferson St.

Tickets are $11 in advance and $15 at the door, available at Food Fantasies, Trout Lily Cafe, Recycled Records, Caitie Girl’s and Metro Tailoring. One dollar of each ticket sold will go to the venue that sells it. For more information, visit wwww.Access4.tv or call Ted Keylon at 836-4799.
