HAIRCUTS TO HELP KIDS

Get your hair cut for a cause on Wednesday, May 19, at University of Spa and Cosmetology Arts. From 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m., the school will be hosting a cut-a-thon to raise money for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, with haircuts and manicures for $5 and facials and half-hour massages for $10. All money raised will be donated to the Center.

“Our school is participating in this national cut-a-thon because we believe that volunteerism and community service are important to the success and growth of our students and the well-being of our community,” says Jamie Kauffman, director of operations.

“One in five girls and one in 10 boys will be sexually exploited by the time they reach adulthood, Kauffman says. Additionally, one in seven children will receive sexual solicitations online.

“With such staggering statistics, it is more important than ever that parents and guardians teach children how to stay safe,” Kauffman says. “The NCMEC is an important resource in helping with this mission.

University of Spa and Cosmetology Arts is at 2913 West White Oaks Drive. For more information, contact Jamie Kauffman at 217-753-8990.
