Things are looking up. Don’t miss your chance to look up at one of Downtown Springfield, Inc.’s free professionally-led walking tours where you can discover architectural facts about the design of our fair city. IHPA Project Designer Anthony Rubano provides an interesting and colorful 90-minute exploration that begins in front of the Lincoln Herndon Law Office at Sixth and Adams streets. June’s tour includes a stroll south down Fifth Street ending at the Widow at Windsor on Fifth and Cook. A few of the buildings the group will be looking at are Floyd’s Thirst Parlor, Bentoh’s and the telephone building on Cook Street. The July tour meets at the Lincoln statue at Second and Capitol where participants will learn about the Armory, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Howlett Building and the Stratton Building before proceeding to the Pasfield House for a reception. All subsequent tours begin at the law office.
