Longtime friends and musicians Aaron Stanley and Robert Reynolds kicked around the idea of a cool 90s cover band for a few years until putting the notion into motion last summer. The pals agree they disagree on each other’s taste in music except when it comes to their formative years of the 1990s, “to the days of Seinfeld, Spice Girls, and the Seattle Sound.” With the addition of Jennifer Dowell on vocals and keyboards, Branden Powell on drums and Robert Lueken on guitar, the lineup was complete but the hard work of getting to know songs from the likes of Pearl Jam, Oasis and Alanis Morissette in addition to popular tunes of the day from boy bands, hip-hopsters and R&B singers on a note-for-note basis had just begun. Another aspect to the Closing Time concept as conceived by Reynolds and Stanley puts several TV screens randomly on stage showing iconic 90s news clips, music videos and other related events, adding a distinctly interesting facet to the cover band model.
