Morsels and melodies

One-of-the-most savored festivals held in Springfield, Taste of Downtown on July 8 and 9 offers delectable morsels from more than 20 downtown restaurants. And Springfield has some great ones: Try a falafel sandwich from Holy Land Diner, homemade potato chips from Maldaner’s, cedar salmon with fennel chutney from Augie’s Front Burner, BBQ pork horseshoe with pepper jack cheese from Caitie Girl’s, chicken taco from Café Bio and so much more. Food and beverage tickets are $1 each. Menu items take one to six tickets. The Miller Lite American Music Show sizzles with four shows on Friday night including the Detroit Cobras at 9 p.m. featuring singer Rachel Nagy and guitarist Mary Ramirez. Saturday, starting at 3 p.m., hear three local bands, then three out-of-state bands, including Elizabeth Cook from Nashville at 8:15 p.m. Kids activities and entertainment rock the festival Saturday from 1-5 p.m. For more info, visit the event coordinators website at downtownspringfield.org.
