Stories, song, supper

art9036

“Heroes of the Civil War” is the theme of this year’s Prairieland Chautauqua, a four-day fest of stories, songs and suppers under the big tent in Jacksonville Community Park. Organizers are bringing in talent from Illinois, New York and Ohio to portray famous men and women of the Civil War, and others who will discuss topics such as Illinois experiences during the war, or sing songs of the Civil War. Some of the performers include storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis of Peoria, African-American storyteller Shanta Nurullah of Chicago, Re-enactor George Dauler of Ohio, and singer/songwriter Barry Cloyd of Peoria. If you plan to have dinner at the event, reservations need to be made at least a day in advance, so make sure to phone 675-2720 or email info@hamiltonscatering.com. You can also make them a day ahead at the check-in table Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Dinner is $10.
