John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives

John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives

Raised outside of Knoxville, Tenn., John Paul Keith took the hard road to getting heard in the music business. His dad gave him a guitar at age 10 with lessons coming from studying records by the likes of Chuck Berry and BB King. Next, JPK landed in Nashville ready to take on the world at age 21 with a major label deal. Nothing really panned out, mostly they say, because of his stubborn refusal to cater to the whims of ignorant record company types. After giving up the music biz, he moved to Memphis, which is no place to hide from music, fortunately for him and the rest of the appreciative world. Left alone to do his thing, he did it well with a grade A band known as the One Four Fives. Keith recently released an acclaimed record called The Man That Time Forgot produced by Fat Possum records co-founder Bruce Watson. By all accounts this is a don’t-miss show from an extraordinary talent playing on his own time and by his own rules.
