Huge FALLowing

One of the premier fall festivals for families in central Illinois, Lincoln Memorial Garden’s Indian Summer Festival is the place to be the weekend of Oct. 8-9. Immerse yourself in the exhilarating smells, sounds and sights of autumn in the outdoors while supporting the garden. Cawley Meadow fills with bluegrass and folk music by Ken Carlyle, Tom Irwin, The Emerald Underground, Ben Bedford, The Field, Walk, Fifer Trio, Fake McCoys and a smorgasbord of mouthwatering food items. Kids can decorate pumpkins, get their faces painted, make crafts and get a balloon sculpture from Scarecrow the clown. Families won’t want to miss the turtle races and raptor presentations that take place at 12:30 and 2:45 p.m. Also, check out the 40 craft vendors and numerous demonstrations such as flint knapping, yarn spinning, soap making, loom weaving, paper quilling and leather working. Walk the five-mile trails. And see all the birdhouses that were entered in the contest and vote for your favorite.
