Classical character

Violinist Midori performs at Sangamon Auditorium Oct. 25. She is joined on stage by Pianist Özgür Aydin. On the repertoire for the evening: Mozart: Sonata in E-flat Major K.380; Shostakovich: Sonata Op.134; Schumann: Sonata in A minor, Op.105; and Schubert: Fantasy in C Major, D.934. Sometimes the beauty of a musician as a human being translates into their music, and the result is an exquisite experience. Midori is one such musician. With more than a quarter century of know-how and international touring (14 countries this year alone), this LA-based artist continues to push out performances while supporting youth around the world through several associations that she created. In addition she has served as a United Nations Messenger of Peace for the last five years. She is also strings department chair at University of Southern California, and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology. Visit Midori’s website at www.gotomidori.com to read her interesting writings about composers, her travels, living green and more. Look under the listings “Random Musings” and “Music Notes.” The concert is sponsored by WUIS Public Radio.
