Robert Sampson & Blues Gumbo

Not just another blues band, this group of seasoned area musicians comes together to play music bringing decades of experience in performance, perseverance and practice. With Jacksonville resident Robert Sampson (vocals, songwriter, keyboards, saxophone, guitar, harmonica) leading the way through his spirited performances and multi-instrumentalist capabilities, Blues Gumbo consists of Lorrie Eden (vocals), Art Carey (drums, vocals), Ed Eden (bass, vocals) and Tom Lewis (guitar, vocals). The range and experience of band members allows for much more flexibility in song choices than comes with groups focused on a single genre of blues. Be prepared for catchy originals plus covers covering BB King to Wanda Jackson. This debut performance serves as a send-off for Robert, winner of the 2011 Illinois Central Blues Club Blues Challenge Solo/Duo competition, as he heads for Memphis, Tenn., Jan. 31-Feb. 4, 2012, to compete at the International Blues Challenge, the world’s largest gathering of blues acts. In 2008 Robert placed sixth as the ICBC representative for solo/duo blues performer. Good luck in 2012!! May the blues be with you....
