Podcasts are coming to git ya ...

invasion.jpg

If you’re like me, you’re so busy that joining a book club is a thought you keep kicking out of your thoughts each time it’s thrown back at ya. Whack! (Though joining a book club is something you desperately want to do. But heck, there’s this little thing called writing you want to do more and can’t even find time for that.)

Podcasts and online book clubs to the rescue. Though I can’t help but think of body-snatching pods floating on a pond waiting to assimilate me while I’m throwing in my fishing line, I think podcasts rock. You can visit them anytime. (And if you're really busy, you don't necessary have to read the book. Hush, I didn't say that.) The only problem I have with podcasts, and online book clubs, is that there are literally gazillions of literary online goodies, and I want to hear, watch, read them all. (One of my all time fav commercials is the guy who while at a computer, turns to his wife and states that he’s completed surfing the web, as if he had read it all and there was an end. Remember that?)

So, bonus points to my daughter who is so hip and so nerdy at the same time that she always knows the best places/things in the music/film/literary worlds. Her latest and greatest find is Literary Disco. But what really had me after “literary” was their new book club reading of James Joyce’s Finnegan’s Wake. It starts today. Five pages a day. Then discussion. This sounds like so much fun to me. I’m dancing in my head in my seat. And my feet don’t seem to want to kick anything. What’s wrong here? It's the pods, right?
