The Cure for Blockbuster-itis

If you find yourself weary of all the go-to overhyped hits currently on local screens, cinematic alternatives are only as far away as a quick trip to Champaign.

Through the coming weekend, the Art Theater Co-op (126 W. Church St. in Champaign) will be screening a variety of intriguing, non-standard fare, including documentaries about killer whales in captivity and backup singers for superstar vocalists; a well-reviewed modern take on Hitchcock-style suspense; a highly-acclaimed Danish drama; a new adaptation of a Henry James novel featuring Julianne Moore; and a rare big-screen revival of Monty Python's most irreverent satire.

Check out the trailers by clicking on the descriptions above and head to the Art - not only does it offer the most eclectic roster of films in the region, it is also the only cooperatively owned movie theater in the USA.

Visit www.arttheaater.coop for full schedule and showtimes .
