Following a lengthy and contentious meeting of the Springfield school board in which Superintendent Walter Milton proposed cuts to several popular programs to balance the Springfield Public Schools budget, at least one upset person took their frustrations to the Internet. An unidentified person who didn’t respond to an interview request created a Facebook group on Tuesday afternoon titled “Time to get ride of Dr. Walter Milton.” (Yes, that should be “rid” instead of “ride.”) The description of the group says “This page will be used as a place where residents of Springfield, IL can voice their concerns about District 186 School Superintendent Dr. Walter Milton.” No one had “liked” the page as of Wednesday morning, and the group administrator hadn’t posted anything by then, either. For now, it’s just an empty page with a photo taken from a State Journal-Register story, but it may foreshadow a concerted effort among angry parents to push the superintendent out for real.
