China Ryder

If what the world needs now is another Grateful Dead-style band doing a terrific take on the jam band genre, China Ryder is it. With former and current members of Perfunctory This Band, Brad Beneky (bass, vocals), Jeff “Smegma” Williams (keyboards) and Al Hibbert (rhythm guitar, vocals) in cahoots with Casey Cantrall (lead guitar, vocals) and Jim Crowley (drums), the music choices are destined to be exciting and the musicianship top notch. Expect Phish and Dead tunes mixed into a plethora of jamming jams set to get the Can rocking and bring in the New Year with a bang. Pet Names plays originals plus covers by the likes of Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Pretenders and more, creating a fresh approach to the songs through performance and interpretation. Both bands are fairly new on the Springfield scene, debuting in November of 2012. Be sure to check out the Dead-style posters put out by China Ryder advertising their shows. Cool, man, cool.
