Get your art fix
This year’s MacARTFest brings together some of Illinois’ most talented artists. The festival will be held on June 7 from 6-9 p.m. and June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South Grand Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard. Art fans can enjoy live demonstrations of basket weaving, papermaking, ceramics, glass blowing, jewelry craft, woodworking, oil and watercolor painting and much more. With live music from Springfield’s own Thornhill, fans can look forward to other musical guests, 50 artists, children’s activities and locally catered food. Friday’s admission is $25 and goes towards the MacArthur Boulevard Association fundraiser. Ticket purchases include access to an array of appetizers and two drinks. Additional drinks will be available for sale. There will also be a raffle and other fun activities. Admission for Saturday is free and there will be food and drink vendors along with the artists showcasing their work. As you enjoy the event, remember that 100 percent of the proceeds will go to revitalizing MacArthur Boulevard. For more information visit www.macartfest.com.
