It’s too early to tell if Tyler Morrison has a political career ahead of him, but the 4-year-old son of State Rep. Thomas Morrison, a Palatine Republican, has a better chance than some career politicians with his efforts to talk to people on both sides of the aisle during the weekend legislative session, May 28.

The blond-haired Morrison made small talk with Republicans and Democrats, and even drew attention from the Speaker of the Illinois House. The 4-year-old was recognized on the House floor by State Rep. Karen May, a Democrat from Highland Park, when she said the boy told her, “everybody was doing a good job,” but to keep the noise down because he and his dad had important decisions to make.

While his dad sat at his desk, the younger Morrison walked the  aisles of the House floor.

“He told me that he was on the floor to do some work,” says Morrison. “And I asked what his job was and he said, “to make sure everybody is OK.

“It really was kind of a light moment,” says Morrison.

Let’s hope Illinois legislators were taking notes on Tyler Morrison’s nonpartisan style.
