Better safe than sorry
Women of all ages will benefit from a personal defense seminar under the direction of a local Jiu-Jitsu professional. On Saturday, Jan. 3, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., grab your girlfriends for an hour-long course hosted by Professor Mark Commean, head instructor and owner of Gracie Humaita, a local Jiu-Jitsu school. Professor Commean has been training students in Jiu-Jitsu since 2001, received his black belt under the legendary Royler Gracie and placed second in the IBJJF 2012 World Championship. Mark will educate participants on the most common places to be attacked, ways to be more aware of your surroundings, the importance of making eye contact and projecting your voice and offer a demonstration on what to do if attacked. For questions regarding this important, female-only event, call Scheels at 726-6330.
