Artist on the Plaza

Springfield Area Youth Jazz Band

This summer, spend your Tuesday and Thursday lunch hours outdoors enjoying the annual Artist on the Plaza free performance series at the Old State Capitol Plaza. Artist on the Plaza is the Springfield Area Arts Council’s longest-running concert series, featuring al fresco performances by local artists every Tuesday and Thursday between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Springfield Area Youth Jazz Band will play on Thursday, June 9; other June performances include the guitar stylings of Edwin Gehlbach on June 14; dulcimer music by Tim Garman on June 21; a mix of pop, folk, country and blues by Rachel Rambach on June 23; piano music by Ed Clark on June 28 and Americana music courtesy of Ben Bedford on June 30. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch, a blanket or chair and enjoy an hour of summer fun in the middle of the workday. For more information about the Artist on the Plaza performance series or the Springfield Area Arts Council, visit http://springfieldartsco.org.
